My last post was about how I needed to write more.
Then I didn’t write anything for seven months.
But I’m back! Thanks to my longtime, high school friend, Latham Turner, I actually wrote something this month. Latham graciously allowed me to guest post on his Substack, “Get Real, Man.” His thoughtful, introspective newsletter often focuses on work, masculinity, and fatherhood and how they contribute to his pursuit of a true, meaning-filled identity in life. It’s right up my alley.
My post was inspired by a late-night rant about “invisible labor” that my wife, the Breadwinner in our family, didn’t understand. “Bring an Apple to School Day” ruined my weekend, and it helped me understand the value I bring to our household by doing the “women’s work” around here. And you don’t have to be a full-time, stay-at-home dad to do that work, by the way.
Check it out here, and let me know what you think:
I also hope you follow and subscribe to Latham’s Substack. It’s a good one.
Glad you’re back! And such a great message to come back with. I have to know, though, DID YOU REMEMBER THE APPLE??!
Oh, you’re damn right I did.
Great article. Every woman will be nodding her head reading this. 👏
Thank you! Says a lot coming from you!
